The names of six people who died in the Lahaina fire were released by Maui police on Sunday.
That raised the number of fire victims who have been identified to 89, although names were withheld for seven of those until their families could be notified, according to a press release.
Those confirmed Sunday to have died in the fire were Justin Recolizado, 11; Ediomede Pavian Castillo, 35; Maria Victoria Recolizado, 51; Michael Morinho, 61; Terri Thomas, 62; and Alfred Rawlings, 84. They were all from Lahaina.
The death toll stood at 97, meaning eight people have yet to be unidentified. 22 people remain unaccounted for, according to a new list released Friday.
Numbers were higher in the immediate aftermath of the Aug. 8 blaze that swept rapidly through the historic town, forcing thousands to flee their homes. But officials say they have made progress toward a more accurate account with DNA and forensic testing.
